Chemical Policy
Chemicals are used to enhance the functionality, durability, and appearance of our products — but their use also comes with the responsibility to ensure they are handled safely and in accordance with regulations.
As a minimum requirement, all chemicals used in our products must comply with the restrictions set by REACH, the European Union’s chemicals regulation.
We are working toward ensuring that all metal and plastic components — such as buttons, zippers, and adjusters — are OEKO-TEX® certified, helping us meet recognized safety and environmental standards.
To help ensure compliance, we conduct random product testing through laboratories approved by Baum und Pferdgarten. These tests are designed to confirm that our chemical requirements are being met.
We also monitor developments related to REACH’s Candidate List, which includes substances classified as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). This list is updated biannually by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). We expect our suppliers to stay informed and work toward phasing out the use of any substances appearing on this list.
Even legally approved chemicals can pose risks if they are not handled or disposed of properly. We require all suppliers to implement safe and responsible chemical waste management practices to help protect workers, local communities, and surrounding ecosystems.
Reducing the use and impact of harmful substances is a complex, ongoing process that affects many stages of our supply chain. While challenges exist, we are committed to continuous improvement, staying up to date with the latest regulations, and supporting our suppliers in meeting our chemical standards.
